Water Plan Update Timeline

The Colorado Water Plan (Water Plan) sets forth strategies to meet our future needs through balanced policies and actions that all Coloradans and their elected officials can support. The Water Plan is a living document but gets periodic updates that depend on multiple inputs.

Work to update the Water Plan has included hundreds of stakeholder meetings, the completion of the Analysis and Technical Update to the Colorado Water Plan (Technical Update) in 2019 and the efforts to update the Basin Implementation Plan (currently underway and set for completion in 2021). The Water Plan update will wrap-up in December of 2022. That effort includes three key phases of work:

  • PHASE 1 (OCTOBER 2020 - JUNE 2021)
Staff Planning & Targeted Public Engagement

  • PHASE 2 (JULY 2021 - MARCH 2022)
Staff Drafting & CWCB Board Engagement

  • PHASE 3 (APRIL 2022 - DECEMBER 2022)
Public Comment & Final Water Plan Update

As these efforts advance, updates and opportunities to engage will be provided on this page.

  • I thought I had signed up for this, but it wasn't on my calendar and I missed the event. Is there someplace I can listen to the session or review the presentation?
