The 2-day Colorado Drought Summit was held on May 31st and June 1st, 2023.
The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) hosted the 2023 Colorado Drought Summit on May 31 & June 1, 2023. The summit was held against a backdrop of ongoing long-term drought across the southwestern United States and acute drought conditions across much of Colorado between 2020-2023. Protecting water supplies across Colorado is expected to become more difficult as climate change disrupts typical weather patterns and makes it more challenging to predict future water availability. So, in January 2023, Governor Polis directed the CWCB to host the Drought Summit to explore the challenges and potential solutions of drought in the West. The two-day summit featured over 70 expert speakers and panelists, demonstrating CWCB's commitment to advancing drought resilience as discussed in the 2023 Colorado Water Plan.
CWCB would like to thank Brown & Caldwell for being the event sponsor and for supporting the event planning and staffing.
