In 2023, the updated Colorado Water Plan was released, providing a framework to help Coloradans meet water challenges across the state through collaborative action. Now, two years into the implementation of the Water Plan, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) wants to share stories and insights into the progress the agency, sister agencies, and dedicated stakeholders and individuals have made.
THE REPORT
The Colorado Water Plan Progress Report offers a glimpse into the hard work of advancing actions that the agency and its partners have accomplished so far through case studies of exemplary projects. Because one of the most influential ways that the CWCB is able to move the Water Plan forward is through funding via loans and grants, the majority of the report focuses on the results of those funded projects, with a special emphasis on Water Plan Grant recipients.
Advancing the Water Plan's objectives requires significant commitment, dedication, and time from CWCB staff, but the boots-on-the-ground work relies on Colorado's people -- ranchers, rafters, and regional leaders. While this report aims to highlight some of the most inspiring work of our partners using CWCB funds, it's also a tool that will hopefully offer valuable insight for future applicants.
"What makes water in Colorado work is the collective effort of multiple agencies, organizations, and community water leaders moving ideas forward and putting them into action." - Lauren Ris, CWCB Director
